Paper, PC-based patrol, or Wilco?
De Tag has made guard patrol systems for years. Wilco is our cloud platform; De Tag Patrol Manager is our PC-based system with handheld readers. Both are sold and supported. Here is how they differ.
| Paper logbook | De Tag Patrol Manager handheld reader + PC | Wilco cloud + Android app | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proof the person was there | A signature — can be written anywhere | A touch with the handheld reader at the tag | A tap with the phone at the NFC tag |
| When the office finds out | When the book is read | When the reader is brought back and downloaded at the PC | Live, as each tag is tapped |
| Where you see it | In the book | On the PC with the software installed | In any web browser — office, home, on the road |
| Missed rounds | Easy to miss | Found at download | Flagged during the day; unwalked rounds recorded automatically |
| Checks and readings | Written by hand | No — records the tag and the time | Yes — questions, readings in range, choices and notes |
| Photographs | No | No | Yes, attached to the answer |
| Several sites | One book per site | Each site downloaded separately | Every site and client in one account |
| Internet needed | No | No | Yes for the office; phones keep working without signal |
| Equipment | A book and a pen | Reader, download station and a Windows PC | Android phones with NFC and NFC tags |
Choose De Tag Patrol Manager if…
- your site has no reliable internet
- you want the records kept on your own PC
- next-morning reporting is enough
- you only need to know the patrol was walked
Choose Wilco if…
- you run several sites, or your supervisors are not always on site
- you want to know about a missed round tonight, not tomorrow
- your clients expect evidence — checks and photographs — as well as times
- the work is more than patrols: cleaning, temperature logs, inspections
Already using Patrol Manager?
Wilco uses NFC tags, which a phone can read; Patrol Manager readers use a different kind of RFID tag. We fit NFC tags beside your existing ones, so you can run both side by side until you are ready to change over.
See Wilco working on a building like yours.
We will walk a round with a phone, show you the live board and open the reports — in about twenty minutes.
